Poker Tournaments - the way to handle Blinds

If a poker tournament can be defined as a play of "situations", then it is important to know the correct way to play when we are SB (Small Blind) or BB (Big Blind). The first thing to understand is that you should never be too attached to the blinds.

The fact of being the first to mention it leaves you in a clear disadvantage. Winning a small pot is not worth the risk of playing out of position. Do this later, when the blinds are starting to be more consistent. Moreover, you have to post before thinking twice to fold in front of a raise because there are many more chips into the pot before the flop. In fact, a tournament is the right time to attack your opponents from the blinds. As I said just before, poker is a game of situations and is essential to address the various situations in an appropriate manner.

When appropriate you can call a raise from a player in a late position or you can even think about re-raise. Do not ever defend your blinds with marginal hands against a player who has raised in an early position regardless the stage of the tournament. When a player raises in an early position it is often safer to assume that he really has a strong hand rather than thinking he wants to steal the blinds.

Against very strong players increase the blinds to avoid tough clashes that may affect the tournament. You’re trying to win a pot, not a battle! If all check, as you approach the button the tendency of making a re-raise whose aim is to steal the blinds increase. These are situations in which you need to analyze your opponents to see if they are vulnerable or not to a re-raise. If you see that your opponents are quite weak then this might be a good opportunity to re-raise to show that they cannot make fun of you so easy. But in reraise, going all-in is not advisable at all as it’s not worth risking the tournament for a bluff. Instead, it is better to choose the amount to raise based on your and your opponent's stack. In these cases you should bet an amount that seems to be pot-committed even though in reality you're not. Giving the impression of being pot-committed will prove your strength so your opponent will find it difficult to go all-in unless he has an extremely good hand. Choosing an adequate value for your raise in such situations can help you defend a large portion of your chips.

Eyes on those subtle Straights and Flushes!

A high pair in the pocket is definitely a great way to start off, however there are situations where you need to fold. In such a case, in fact, we take into account the statistical probability of success of a high pair in conjunction to the board outcomes, linked to our opponents’ play.

Flush-draws & Straight Draws.
The most difficult situations against our high pairs can be beaten, are definitely straight-draws and flush-draws. This means our board consists of 3 or 4/5 cards of same suit, or 3 or 4/5 cards offering a straight draw. Obviously, some factors should be considered:

The number of players. With 3 cards out of 5 of a flush on the table, a reduced number up to 3 or 4 opponents gives us much more hope in the Turn phase. The possibility that the river delivers a 4th card for those expecting a flush, is in fact reduced especially after you will be carried to the right raises in the pre-flop and flop. Re-raising in preflop, is advisable to eliminate any players having suited middle card where the higher the raise, the more effective this will be.

With 4 out of 5 cards of same suit on the board, even with a small number of players, it would be a good idea to fold if there is a call to one of our bets in the Flop or Turn. Also keep in mind that next you’re gonna have to call a substantial bet. With this scenario in mind it makes perfect sense to fold. 4 cards from 5 in a flush draw during the River is by far the most disadvantageous situation when found without a high suited card, let alone a high pair.

Straight draw. It's more difficult to point out, as it widely changes. We understand the importance of carefully monitoring your opponents in every phase of the game. If we re-raised by a considerable amount in preflop, then those who call should have two consecutive high cards. In fact, apart from those few loose aggressive players, players with two (low or) middle suited cards, most of the times do not call your raise. At this point, at least we know that any cards giving way for a high straight in the Flop those who have the scale's got a high one. If cards like 10, J, Q, K , A, have come out we might be also dealing with another high pair.

Great Clashes This Weekend

Manchester United vs. Arsenal

Sagna Chicharito playGames360 Arsenal Manchester United
No fresh injuries or suspensions are attributed to Ferguson's squad ahead of Saturday's clash with the Gunners, meaning United's line-up will be most likely similar to that against Chelsea last Sunday.

Gervinho is out for Arsenal after he injured his ankle against QPR last week, meaning Arsene Wenger is likely to stick with the team that forced a late win over Mark Hughes' side. Andre Santos will have to continue as LB instead of Kieran Gibbs with a hip injury, and Vito Mannone will start between the posts as Szczesny still with ankle problems.

Points to note are that Sir Alex's side have won 9 out of the 10 meetings with the Gunners in all competitions and have scored and conceded at least two goals in the same Premier League game five times this season.

Here are the odds at playGames360:

Juventus vs. Inter

With a 3-2 victory over Sampdoria midweek ensured an 8th straight win for Stramaccioni's side.

Diego Milito: "Con la Juve capiremo chi siamo" - We'll understand who we are, playing against Juve. The Inter striker has a plain aim, that of finally beating Juventus at Turin, something that not even an Inter side under Mourinho has been able to achieve.

The Bianconeri continue to impress within the Serie A and avoiding a defeat against Inter, would make them 50 league games unbeaten, closing in on AC Milan's 58 games record of unbeaten games over the 1991-92-93 Seasons.

Giorgio Chiellini, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Claudio Marchisio and Kwadwo Asamoah are all expected to be back in the starting lineup with Martin Caceres, Mauricio Isla, Emanuele Giaccherini and Paolo De Ceglie dropping to the bench.

And these are the odds at playGames360

Some facts:

Inter has not won in Turin against Juve since January 2008. The beat them 3-2 in the Coppa Italia with two goals from Mario Balotelli in 2008.

Other:

The last team who defeated the Juve side in the Serie A was Parma in the penultimate round of the 2010-11 season, which coincidentally was the team to end Milan's unbeaten league record back in 1993.

A Worldwide Spread - Gambling

Casino old playGames360Many wonder what has changed in gambling, in fact there are many people who ask this question. A question that can offer a thousand different answers or even none. This depends on ones’ points of view. The plain fact is that everything is changing, everything is indeed already changed.

Suffice it to say that not long ago, gambling was totally illegal in most countries and now it's spread everywhere and even protected by governments. So what has changed in the gambling seems a rhetorical question than anything else.
All new/young players do not even know what you’re talking about when you mention that gambling was illegal.

In fact, thanks to the worldwide spread of online-gaming it has been an incredible development,  keeping in mind that now you can play your favorite games directly from your phone. Once again, the question is what has changed in gambling?

Play online and you will see for yourself what's so different between the old games that one could actually play in traditional casinos and all the games available in the new online casino. Take a look around and you'll soon realize the transformation of gambling, with even Poker, (Live) Casino, and even Sports-Betting all found at the same place.
